An experiment with design systems content in video

While at zeroheight, I got to not only write content far more often than I ever had before, do talks at conferences and meet-ups, and push myself in all kinds of ways. One thing I never thought I’d do is work with video!

It’s a weird thing to do — talk at yourself through your webcam, but I thought it’d be another way to push myself and hopefully an immediate way of sharing content with the community. I set myself a challenge of doing it every day for a week, picking a topic, and talking about it for a few minutes. I don’t use notes and just see what happens; hopefully, people would get some value from it!

The initial feedback has been positive and I’m blown away by the number of views and subscribers from my just talking about a topic I’m passionate about from my spare room. Here’s what I’ve done so far, all covering different topics to help people get started with design systems:

Maybe I’ll experiment some more with this. I tend to be quite reactive and just try and proper MVP over waiting until such a time that I’d have decent production values. Maybe that’ll come if the content works for people?
